Nash Community College’s 18-hole disc golf course winds across campus with a host of excellent holes; both wooded and open with some water in play. The combination of holes challenges players to throw a wide range of lines or play it safe rather than running for the chains.

The course is challenging yet beginner friendly and was designed with all skill levels in mind. Its disc baskets are easy to spot from any distance with hole one located between the Betsy B. Currin Child Development Center and the °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ Library.

The course is free to use and open to the public, so stop by and experience an exciting round of disc golf on a beautiful campus.

Library Cards

Students and employees of Nash Community College (°΅Νψ½ϋΗψ) should use their °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ photo identification (ID) card to borrow books and other items. °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ photo ID cards are made at the Student Access and Success Services welcome desk in building A.Μύ°΅Νψ½ϋΗψ alumni and residents of Nash County may borrow books and other items by applying for a °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ Library Card with thisΜύ. These patrons must present a government-issued photo ID card with their °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ Library card to borrow books and other items. Parental permission is required for minors who are not °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ students.Μύ

Computer Lab

The Library computer lab provides technology for student success. Public patrons from Nash County are also welcome. Software includes Microsoft Office Suite, Dreamweaver, Photoshop, InDesign, Blender, Unity, and Unreal Engine and a variety of web browsers are available. Patrons may print from computers in the Library computer lab. Webcams and headphones may be borrowed from the service desk.Μύ

Digital Collections

The °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ Library provides 24/7 access to ebooks, audiobooks, full-text articles in academic journals and newspapers, images, films, videos, and other online learning resources. Use the Related Links menu to access online resources. Some of these resources are open access while others require a °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ username and password. Some require a State Library Card, follow instructions to apply online.

°΅Νψ½ϋΗψ students, faculty, staff, and community patrons may also request a account for access to a curated digital collection of ebooks and audiobooks. After an account is established, download the free Libby app to borrow and read/listen to books on preferred devices; smartphones, tablets, or computers. Patrons may recommend books to add to the collection through the Libby website or the Libby app.

Tim Valentine Collection

Tim Valentine Jr. was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, and practiced law in Nash County. During World War II he served in the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater. He also served as a representative for the people of this region in the North Carolina General Assembly and the United States Congress. The Tim Valentine Collection contains scrapbooks, photo albums, photographs, documents, artifacts, and other materials. Many treasures of the collection are on display in the Tim Valentine Study Room. Other items are preserved in the library’s archives and are available for use by request. and .

College Archives

The °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ Archives contain catalogs, brochures, newsletters, reports, scrapbooks, and other material relating to the history of the college. Material may be used in the library for research, and several scrapbooks are available online at , sponsored by the North Carolina Digital Heritage Center.

Film Collections

A film collection in DVD format includes popular movies and award winners. No Internet or streaming service required. A digital Films on Demand Video Collection is available in .

Early Childhood Collection

The Early Childhood book collection supports the Early Childhood Education program at °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ with books written for young children. These books may also be borrowed for reading to children at home or to read favorite books from your childhood.

Teaching and Learning Collection

Books in the Teaching and Learning Collection promote professional development for faculty and staff and support student academic success and the development of valuable skills for university transfer and transitioning from college to the workforce.

Young Adult Collection

Books written for Young Adults include Adventure, Fantasy, History, Horror, Romance, Science Fiction, and other genres.

Graphic Literature Collection

This collection of sequential narrative art features current fiction and nonfiction, as well as graphic renditions of classic literature. Bestsellers and award winners connect the written word with visual art for captivating storytelling.

Cooperative Borrowing

Cooperative borrowing agreements with Joyner Library at East Carolina University (ECU) and the Elizabeth Braswell Pearsall Library at North Carolina Wesleyan University (NCWU) permit current °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ students and employees to borrow books directly from those libraries. Come to the °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ Library service desk or send a request by email toΜύncclibrary@nashcc.edu for a cooperative borrowing letter of introduction. This letter, along with an °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ photo ID card, is required when completing a borrower’s application at ECU and NCWU.

Workout Facilities

Nash Community College provides fitness and wellness resources to students, faculty, and staff in an effort to promote healthy lifestyles. On-campus resources include the Multi-Purpose room, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust Healthy Places NC Fitness Room, and Cardio Room located in the Continuing Education and Public Services Building.

These facilities are open to all currently enrolled students. The hours of operation are Monday – Thursday from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. However, if the Basic Law Enforcement or Fire Academy is using it, then it may be unavailable. Students must present their °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ I.D. at each visit and have a signed waiver form on file to enter the gym. An individual will be at the front desk. 

Intramural Sports

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to participate in intramural sports offered throughout the year, though generally during spring and fall semesters.

Walking Trail

Nash Community College is also home to a LiveWell and Learn Trail – a 2.5-mile fitness and nature trail that winds through the wooded area of campus with learning stations along the way. The trail is open to the public and provides an opportunity for fun and wellness for families and individuals. Walkers and runners may begin at any point on the trail. Signage indicates the trail path as it loops throughout the campus.

Nash Community College’s multimedia studio and home to Big Bang Radio

Studio 67 films and produces shows and student programs, live-streams college ceremonies, provides instructional video and audio production, and serves as the laboratory for the Broadcasting and Production Technology degree program. The studio also welcomes volunteers from the college and community to learn and participate in audio, radio, and video productions.

Inside Studio 67 is °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ’s 1000-watt radio station, Big Bang Radio, broadcasting locally as WNIA-89.1 FM and live-streamed 24/7 at studio67ncc.com. Playing genres like college, alternative, and indie, the station reaches audiences around the globe and works with major record companies to give their new artists airplay.

Advanced Manufacturing Club

The Advanced Manufacturing Club is an organization to promote skills, technology and knowledge for students in the Machining, Welding, Industrial Systems Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, and Computer Engineering Technology programs.Μύ

Ambassadors

The Nash Community College Foundation sponsors a for selected individuals who demonstrate leadership, scholarship, and strong written and oral communication skills. Ambassadors represent Nash Community College at Foundation events and a wide variety of school functions. Ambassadors assist the College during times such as registration and open house.

Ambassador applications are available in the spring. In the spring of each year, a selection committee appointed by the Nash Community College Foundation Executive Director interviews and selects the ambassadors. Ambassadors receive a scholarship and serve the College in the subsequent school year.

Artistic Designers Club

The Artistic Designers Club is an organization for students who are enrolled in cosmetology courses at Nash Community College. The club encourages and provides opportunities for development of leadership skills and accountability in the cosmetology field.

Drama Club

The Drama Club encourages support and participation in activities of theater interest. This includes participation in campus productions at Nash Community College as well as supporting and participating in activities which enhance theatrical development.

Dungeons & Dragons Club

The purposes of this organization are to enrich student’s knowledge and uses of improvisation and its application to the real world while enhancing a variety of skills including but not limited to teamwork, conflict resolution, and evaluation situations. To provide a place for students to come together and interact with each other through a fun and engaging means.

Gamma Beta Phi Society

GBP is an honor society on campus. Students must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average, must have earned 12 or more semester hours in a major at °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ. Membership drives are held in September and February of each semester.

Global Scholars Club

The purposes of the Nash Community College Global Scholars Club is to encourage active student involvement in learning about cultures, countries, and ways of life that are different from their own. To explore the role of a global citizen on campus, in the community, around the world, and raise funds for club members who are participating in °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ Study Abroad trip.

Library Club

Members of the Nash Community College Library Club promote the library’s collections, resources, services, and programs by sharing information and providing tours, teaching information literacy and research skills, participating in programs, assisting with projects, recruiting new members to the club, and encouraging others to read for academic success, personal growth, and recreation. Club members also contribute to improving the library for current and future students.

National Association of Veterinary Technicians in America

The objectives of the Student Chapter of the National Association of Veterinary Technician in America (NAVTA) are to promote the professional and educational advancement of veterinary technicians, to promote and maintain the professional image and high ethical standards of the veterinary technician, to promote progressive and humane medical care for all creatures, to promote and maintain a cooperative professional relationship with the veterinary medical profession, to promote an interest in a national association of veterinary technicians, to serve as a contact between members of NAVTA and veterinary technology students, and to further the social and scientific advancement of Nash Community College veterinary technology students.

Nighthawk Wordsmiths: °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ Creative Writing Club

Creative writing and visual arts club open to any curriculum student at °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ who has an interest in writing, visual arts, or publication. The main purpose of this club is to foster the production of creative writing and visual arts among the students of the College and give them a space to express themselves. By offering seminars and workshops, the club seeks to help students refine their skills. The club strives to produce a juried literary and visual arts magazine once per year.

Phi Theta Kappa

Phi Theta Kappa is a national honor society that recognizes and encourages scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa provides opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for ex- change of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Physical Therapist Assistant Student Organization

The Physical Therapist Assistant Student Organization (PTASO) is a non-profit organization for Physical Therapist Assistant students, other students eligible for enrollment in the program, and program alumni. The PTASO encourages active participation in professional activities at the state and national levels; development of leadership skills; participation in projects and activities that develop support and interest within the professional community; and participation in projects and activities that enhance and promote general community support and interest.

Psychology Club

The Psychology Club’s mission is to promote knowledge and interest in the field of psychology by providing opportunities for interaction among students, faculty, and members of the profession.

SkillsUSA Chapter

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA helps each student excel by providing educational programs, leadership opportunities, events and competitions that support career and technical education (CTE). Students enrolled in Advertising and Graphic Design, Automotive Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, Computer Integrated Machining, Cosmetology, Criminal Justice, Early Childhood Education, Culinary, Electronic Engineering Technology, Electrical Systems Technology, IT – Networking Management, Industrial Systems Technology, Medical Assisting and Welding programs are invited to be part of the °΅Νψ½ϋΗψ SkillsUSA Chapter.

Student Government Association (SGA)

The SGA is the primary organization responsible for providing activities and opportunities that will enhance formal educational experiences. Through its democratic and representative system of government, SGA strives to protect the rights and privileges of all students.

All curriculum students are members of the Student Government Association by virtue of paying an activity fee upon class registration. Members are encouraged to attend monthly meetings and take advantage of the privileges of membership. Students are governed by the SGA Constitution without regard to sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, creed, national origin, sex, age, or disability.

SGA officers are elected in the spring semester for a one-year term. The SGA President represents the student body as a non-voting member of the College’s Board of Trustees.

Student Medical Assisting Association (SMAA)

The Student Medical Assisting Association at Nash Community College helps to prepare students for a rewarding career in the medical assisting field by 1) encouraging knowledge and skill growth; 2) developing leadership, advocacy, and critical thinking skills; and 3) encouraging and developing active participation in local and state levels of North Carolina Society of Medical Assistants (NCSMA) and

American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA).
Membership to those students who are currently enrolled into Medical Assisting courses and/or have been formally accepted into the Medical Assisting program.

Students who are deemed as a pre-Medical Assisting student may become a member but do not hold any officer role.

Student Nurses’ Association

The Student Nurses’ Association is a pre-professional organization for student nurses at Nash Community College. Membership is open to nursing and pre-nursing students.

Tetelestai Club

Tetelestai Club is an interdenominational, student, Christian organization seeking to provide a spiritual environment for students. The club exists to provide regular opportunities to study and discuss the Bible, worship, and pray, all in a group setting. Open to all students and seeks to provide an environment conducive to learning and leadership.

Through the GS program, students will develop global competencies and skills needed to be successful in today’s global economy. The program will focus on discovering what it means to be a global citizen and how students can apply this knowledge to their academic and professional endeavors. Upon completion of all program requirements, students will earn the identification of β€œGlobal Scholar” on their transcripts and will receive specialized regalia for graduation.

Requirements for earning the Global Scholars distinction:
  • Complete 15 credit hours with a minimum of a C in courses designated as globally intensive.
  • Participate in 8 global activities.
  • Participate in 30 hours of global experience through travel abroad and/or domestic intercultural experience or service.
  • Present a capstone presentation related to their global learning experience and participation.
