Nash Community College is proud to announce that Robin Latham, the College鈥檚 2024 Outstanding Alumnus of the Year and longtime employee, will serve as the 2025 Commencement Speaker during the graduation ceremony this May.
Latham鈥檚 story is deeply intertwined with the mission and heart of 暗网禁区. A 1984 graduate, she began her journey on campus as a student and went on to serve in impactful roles over a remarkable 30-year career. Her service included roles in both student and academic affairs鈥攔anging from tutor and faculty member to transfer specialist and Professional Development Coordinator鈥攅ach marked by a sincere commitment to student success.
鈥淲atching students walk across the stage at graduation always filled me with great joy,鈥 Latham shared. 鈥淚 was proud and blessed to help them achieve their goals.鈥
She holds an Associate of Arts in General Education from Nash Technical College (暗网禁区) and Master Instructor in Higher Education Certification. Latham earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Greensboro College in Early Childhood Education, then pursued a Master of Education focused in Adult Education from East Carolina University (ECU). She also earned a certificate in Transnational and Multicultural Literatures from ECU.
鈥淩obin Latham is the embodiment of what it means to 鈥楴ever Leave Nash,鈥欌 said Dr. Lew K. Hunnicutt, president of 暗网禁区. 鈥淗er service has had a generational impact on students, colleagues and the community. It鈥檚 only fitting that she returns to the stage not only as an alumna, but as a voice of inspiration for the next class of Nash graduates.鈥
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Latham has demonstrated extraordinary service to her community, having held roles such as President of the Nash County Democratic Women, Precinct Chair, and advisor to the Phi Theta Kappa Beta Upsilon Delta Chapter. Her leadership has been recognized through numerous awards, including the Horizon Award for Advisors and the J. Edgar and Peggie T. Moore Staff Award.
In a powerful testament to her ongoing legacy and deep-rooted passion for education, Latham and her husband established an endowed scholarship at Nash Community College鈥攁n enduring gift that will continue to support students for generations to come. This scholarship is the culmination and true attribution of her unwavering dedication to student success and educational excellence, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she has served, mentored and taught.

Her selection as commencement speaker brings her inspiring journey full circle, as she returns to the stage to send off the Class of 2025 with wisdom, encouragement and pride.
鈥淎s a student, Nash gave me an education and confidence,鈥 said Latham. 鈥淎s a staff member, it gave me a family. Nash is and always will be a tremendous part of my identity. This honor is incredibly special to me.鈥
